SAP’s Global Industry Director and Chief Engineer, Johnny Clemmons, explains his thoughts on the future of construction. He thinks the next big thing will be an integrated facility lifecycle management concept including 3D BIM to seamlessly transition data from design through construction to the facility operation and maintenance phase. He expects that there will be fewer workers on-site as construction moves to pre-fabrication factories and robots will take over a part of the tasks on-site. The most successful companies will be the ones that are capable to integrate vertically in order to deliver value throughout the full process in ways that cannot be done today.
